Working on songs

Hi!

First term has almost finished and this is going to be the last post of the year. As I promised my 2nd year of Bachillerato students, I'll give you a link to work on songs online: Lyrics Training.  In this webpage, there are plenty of possibilities to discover: several languages (including different accents), three different levels (easy, medium and difficult), karaoke... I hope you'll enjoy using it and you'll improve you English with it.

Have a wonderful time these holidays. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Where is Matt?

As you ask me to give you the links of Matt's videos, here you are. This is the original one. You can see all the places he visited in 2003-2004 making his funny dance. In his website, you have some more information and videos.

Hope you enjoy it!

Improving listening

Some of you find it difficult when you face a listening exercise. The best way to face that is by being prepared.

I recommend you to hear as much English as possible. How can you do that? You can watch TV in English for example, you can watch TV series with subtitles - English or Spanish - or other TV shows in English with subtitles. With DTT (TDT in Spanish) is much easier now. Another thing that you can do is watch films with subtitles. That way you associate sounds and words and it's a funny way to learn. You can try listening to the radio too: http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/programa/english-language-broadcast-jon-jenkins/1240570/

What do you do to improve your listening? What can you recommend your classmates?

Naming the blog

Hi my dear students!

I hope that you had a great time at the fair and you enjoyed your holidays. I remind you that you have to comment the posts I write. You needn't write a lot of words, one or two sentences are OK.

Now, I have a question for you. Would you change the name of the blog? If so, which name would you choose?

Have a nice weekend,

Your teacher

Getting started

Hi!

This is my very first post in the blog. It's just to greet my students and wish them a good school year.

I  want to include a link that I always find interesting for my students and I always recommend them. It's an online dictionary. You can use it to look up words in English and Spanish as well as in other laguages such as French or Portuguese. You can look for synonyms and definitions too. Students can check pronunciation and, what I found the most interesting thing, there are forum discussions that help you to choose the right word. I hope you also find it useful. Did you know it? Have you ever used any other online dictionary? Feel free to comment and share your ideas and opinions.

Regards,

Your English teacher
